Hamblin Family Page

Elizabeth Hamblin was my husband's great-great grandmother on his mom's side. Not much is known about her and her family, and I can't guarantee that all of the following information is completely accurate. If obvious errors are found or you have information to share with me, please feel free to contact me at kkgoins@comcast.net. --Kathy Anderson Goins

Elizabeth Hamblin was born on January 3, 1799, in Person County, North Carolina, daughter of William Hamblin (abt 1775-1840?) and Nancy ("Nannie") (unknown maiden name) (abt 1775-1845?). I have not yet found any other children for them.

North Carolina marriage records show that on July 13, 1816, in Person County, North Carolina, Elizabeth ("Betsy") Hamblin was married to Alfred Jones (abt 1790-1860?). It appears that the Jones family was still living in Person County, North Carolina in 1830 (census), but by 1850 (census), they had moved to Scott County, Virginia.

Children of Alfred and Elizabeth Jones:

The 1860 census for Scott County, Virginia shows Alfred Jones (age 70) to be living with his daughter Nancy Jones Ford and her family. Nancy's husband was Joshua Ford, and they had several children. It appears that Elizabeth ("Betsy") Hamblin Jones had died before that census, and I do have a death date for her of March 18, 1853, at Stock Creek, Scott County, Virginia, but I am not sure if this is accurate or not. I don't know where she was buried, nor do I know when or where her husband, Alfred Jones, died or was buried.
